A new women's frisbee team for 2012. More details will be coming to this blog as we have them...

Roster & Profiles

Captain: Lily Huang, #3
Lily has been playing ultimate since forever. At MIT she played with the women's team, sMITe during its heyday, finishing 2nd at UPA college nationals in 2003, 5th at UPA college nationals 2004, and 9th at UPA college nationals 2005. She picked up with Force Durian Gamelan Orchestra to play in the mixed div of 2006 WUCC in Perth, co-captained Junk, Hong Kong's mixed team, competing regularly in asian tournaments (and placing 2nd in the inaugural China Nationals). Since coming to the UK, she has played Iceni for 3 years (winning nationals and xEUCF championships in 2009 and 2011, and finishing 17th at 2010 WUCC in Prague). Last year she won a silver medal with GB women at the European Championships, and has been selected to represent Great Britain again in Japan this year.

Coach: Lucy Barnes,  #57
Lucy started playing ultimate in 2005, playing against Lily in her rookie season with MIT's local rivals, Harvard Quasar. She played with Quasar through until 2010, helping to lead the team to its first ever trip to nationals in that year. From 2006 to 2009 she played with Boston's Brute Squad, reaching UPA national semi-finals in 2006 and 2007, and captaining the team to a finals appearance in 2009. She has also played and coached in Ireland, acting as player-coach with Little Miss Sunshine (2010-2011) as well as helping with coaching and selection for the Irish women's team. In 2011 she moved to the UK, winning nationals with Iceni and selection for the GB women's team in 2012.

President: Magali Kostov
Mags started playing ultimate in 2006 for her college team at Cambridge, a very fun and chilled out introduction to ultimate. Without realising what Tour was, she played 2 or 3 tours with Strange Blue over the next few years. In 2009 she moved to Oxford, and decided to take ultimate (very slightly) more seriously. She tried out for the new GB under 23 team and made it. Since then she has played women's tour with Dirty Olive (finishing 4th and 5th in 2010 and 2011, respectively). In international competition, that U23 world championship team took bronze in 2010, and the GB women's senior team finished 2nd at EUC in 2011, and she will take to the pitch for GB women again at this year's world championships.
